What is Biomass?
Biomass has been a source of energy for hundred’s of years, from organic matter such as wood. Using fires within your home maybe a thing of the past, modern day wood burning boilers and stoves can not only offer a practical solution to hear your home, but also an energy efficient solution too. Not only can Biomass save you in excess of £400 a year, but biomass is a much kinder element to the environment when comparing it to commonly used fossil fuels such as Coal, Gas or Oil.
When energy is produced by Organic matter such as Wood, that particular energy is sometimes referred to as bio energy and the fuels themselves known as biomass. To highlight the differences between Biomass and Fossil Fuels, Biomass derives from recent materials such as plants or untreated wood, whereas Fossil Fuels take millions of years to be created, meaning that biomass is far easier to replenish.
