From Hampers to Hope: Building a Lasting Partnership with Trident Group at Deelands Hall

At Robert Heath Heating (RHH), our commitment to social value goes beyond one-off events. It’s about building genuine, lasting relationships that create tangible change. Our evolving partnership with Trident Group UK at the Deelands Hall Community Centre is a powerful testament to this commitment.

Client: Trident Group UK

Project: Deelands Hall Community Centre

Location: Birmingham, UK

Date: 2024/25

The Initial Visit: Uncovering a Deeper Need

Our journey with Deelands Hall began in December, when RHH team members Rebekah Jackson and Robert Harvey visited the centre as part of a Clarion Social Value initiative. The initial goal was to distribute Christmas hampers and offer energy-saving advice to local residents—a four-hour visit we hoped would provide some festive support.

While the event was a success, the experience was also deeply humbling. We saw firsthand that Deelands Hall is more than just a building; it's a vital hub that fosters a powerful sense of community. However, we also saw a facility in desperate need of support. It became immediately clear that to truly help, our involvement couldn't end with Christmas hampers.

The Challenge: A Vital Hub in Need of Revitalisation

Deelands Hall, run by the fantastic social housing and care provider Trident Group UK, is the heart of its community, but the building itself required urgent attention. While some funds had been secured for carpets and blinds, the centre was in dire need of a full redecoration to create the safe, welcoming, and functional environment its residents deserve. The need was not just for cosmetic updates, but for a revitalisation that reflected the spirit of the people who rely on it.

The Solution: A Multi-Faceted Commitment

Recognising the urgency, RHH committed to a deeper, more sustained partnership with Trident Group and the centre's manager, Bernie. Our approach moved from short-term aid to a long-term strategy for impact.

Responding in a Moment of Crisis: The strength of this new partnership was tested on March 5th when Bernie reached out with an urgent, sensitive request. A local resident was fleeing a domestic violence situation and needed immediate help to move. Without hesitation, we provided a van and volunteer time to help her move safely. The email of gratitude we received afterwards was heartwarming and reinforced our drive to support the centre in any way we can.

Investing in Community Joy: Understanding that community spirit is built on positive experiences, we were delighted to deepen our partnership with Trident Group by donating £600 to help them host a magical Children's Easter Party at Deelands Hall. The funds helped bring in Fairytale Party Planners, treating the children to an amazing time filled with fun, food, a disco, face painting, and even special visits from the Easter Bunny and Alice in Wonderland! Knowing we helped create such a special experience for children who might not normally have it truly highlights why this work is so important.

A Proposal for the Future: Our commitment continues to grow. We have proposed a long-term plan to direct more of our Clarion Social Value efforts towards the centre, focusing on:

  • Targeted Funding: Providing significant funds to cover the cost of essential refurbishment materials and skilled labour.

  • Community & Corporate Engagement: Launching a donation drive and using our social media channels (with permission) to rally support from local businesses and organisations.

  • Volunteer Power: Leveraging our network of contractors and volunteers to contribute their time and skills to the refurbishment project.

The Impact: A Partnership Built on Trust

By listening to the community's needs and responding with meaningful action, we have moved beyond a simple corporate-charity relationship. We have built a true partnership with Trident Group and the on-site team at Deelands Hall, founded on trust and a shared goal of uplifting the community.

Our work is far from over. We are passionate about continuing to support Deelands Hall and are excited to see the positive impact of our shared efforts unfold. This is what social value looks like in action: real support, for real people, with real results.
