- University of Brighton Partnership | Robert Heath
Watch how Robert Heath Heating partnered with the University of Brighton for the MKM12 Live Brief, challenging Master's students to tackle the energy transition. Bridging the Gap Between Classroom and Boardroom At Robert Heath Heating, we believe that tackling the biggest challenges in the energy sector requires fresh, unfiltered thinking. That is why we have partnered with the University of Brighton’s Business School to deliver the MKM12 "Live Brief"—a Challenge-Based Learning module that tasks Master's students with solving real-world problems. Every year, we present the University of Brighton (UoB) MKM12 Marketing Master's students with an open-ended, NDA-protected business brief. This isn't a simulation; it is a real strategic challenge currently facing our industry. This year, the focus was on the "Energy Transition "—tasking students to develop actionable, net-zero focused business solutions that benefit both our clients and the wider community. Working in dedicated agency-style teams, the students undergo a rigorous 12-week process of research, data analysis, and strategy development. Known as "Challenge-Based Learning," the module pushes students out of their academic comfort zones. The culmination of the project? A live, high-pressure pitch directly to the Robert Heath Heating Board of Directors. The Live Brief is designed to deliver immense value to both parties. For the students, it is an opportunity to test their academic theories in a demanding corporate environment, building the confidence and resilience required for their future careers. For Robert Heath Heating, it provides unparalleled access to the next generation of industry leaders. "The benefit for the business is we have the opportunity to get a really talented group of people together and use that hive mind... to help us solve real-world problems. It results in excellent ideas that are having real positive impacts on our delivery and on the industry." — Ian Mather, Strategy & Partnerships Director, Robert Heath Heating Interested in learning more? A Smart Cylinder Fails. A Trusted Partner Responds. Client: Homeowner / Mixergy Project: Smart Cylinder Breakdown Location: South Wales Date: 01/10/25 Introduction For homeowner John, investing in a modern Mixergy smart hot water cylinder was a choice for efficiency and reliability. However, when the system’s immersion element failed, he found himself without hot water and facing a reluctant original installer. What could have been a frustrating and lengthy ordeal was transformed by a single call, leading to an RHH engineer arriving on his doorstep and a resolution that exceeded all expectations. The Challenge: A Critical Failure and an Urgent Need The moment a key home appliance fails is stressful. For John, this moment came when his new smart cylinder stopped working. The Mixergy app confirmed the fault, but the path to a solution was unclear. The original installers were hesitant to provide immediate support, leaving John in a difficult position. - Hampers to Hope: Deelands Hall Case Study
At Robert Heath Heating, our commitment to social value goes beyond one-off events. It’s about building genuine, lasting relationships that create tangible change. Our evolving partnership with Trident Group UK at the Deelands Hall Community Centre is a powerful testament to this commitment. From Hampers to Hope: Building a Lasting Partnership with Trident Group at Deelands Hall At Robert Heath Heating, our commitment to social value goes beyond one-off events. It’s about building genuine, lasting relationships that create tangible change. Our evolving partnership with Trident Group UK at the Deelands Hall Community Centre is a powerful testament to this commitment. Client : Trident Group UK Project : Deelands Hall Community Centre Location : Birmingham, UK Date : 2024/25 The Initial Visit: Uncovering a Deeper Need Our journey with Deelands Hall began in December, when RHH team members Rebekah Jackson and Robert Harvey visited the centre as part of a Clarion Social Value initiative. The initial goal was to distribute Christmas hampers and offer energy-saving advice to local residents—a four-hour visit we hoped would provide some festive support. While the event was a success, the experience was also deeply humbling. We saw firsthand that Deelands Hall is more than just a building; it's a vital hub that fosters a powerful sense of community. However, we also saw a facility in desperate need of support. It became immediately clear that to truly help, our involvement couldn't end with Christmas hampers. The Challenge: A Vital Hub in Need of Revitalisation Deelands Hall, run by the fantastic social housing and care provider Trident Group UK, is the heart of its community, but the building itself required urgent attention. While some funds had been secured for carpets and blinds, the centre was in dire need of a full redecoration to create the safe, welcoming, and functional environment its residents deserve. The need was not just for cosmetic updates, but for a revitalisation that reflected the spirit of the people who rely on it. The Solution: A Multi-Faceted Commitment Recognising the urgency, RHH committed to a deeper, more sustained partnership with Trident Group and the centre's manager, Bernie. Our approach moved from short-term aid to a long-term strategy for impact. Responding in a Moment of Crisis: The strength of this new partnership was tested on March 5th when Bernie reached out with an urgent, sensitive request. A local resident was fleeing a domestic violence situation and needed immediate help to move. Without hesitation, we provided a van and volunteer time to help her move safely. The email of gratitude we received afterwards was heartwarming and reinforced our drive to support the centre in any way we can. Investing in Community Joy: Understanding that community spirit is built on positive experiences, we were delighted to deepen our partnership with Trident Group by donating £600 to help them host a magical Children's Easter Party at Deelands Hall. The funds helped bring in Fairytale Party Planners, treating the children to an amazing time filled with fun, food, a disco, face painting, and even special visits from the Easter Bunny and Alice in Wonderland! Knowing we helped create such a special experience for children who might not normally have it truly highlights why this work is so important. A Proposal for the Future: Our commitment continues to grow. We have proposed a long-term plan to direct more of our Clarion Social Value efforts towards the centre, focusing on: Targeted Funding: Providing significant funds to cover the cost of essential refurbishment materials and skilled labour. Community & Corporate Engagement: Launching a donation drive and using our social media channels (with permission) to rally support from local businesses and organisations. Volunteer Power: Leveraging our network of contractors and volunteers to contribute their time and skills to the refurbishment project. The Impact: A Partnership Built on Trust By listening to the community's needs and responding with meaningful action, we have moved beyond a simple corporate-charity relationship. We have built a true partnership with Trident Group and the on-site team at Deelands Hall, founded on trust and a shared goal of uplifting the community. Our work is far from over. We are passionate about continuing to support Deelands Hall and are excited to see the positive impact of our shared efforts unfold. This is what social value looks like in action: real support, for real people, with real results. Interested in learning more? We're here to help. - Daikin Heat Pump Repair Case Study | Robert Heath Heating
See how Robert Heath Heating resolved Daikin heat pump short cycling and underfloor heating issues in Sheffield. Expert diagnosis and service beyond the install. Daikin Hybrid Repair: Solving Short Cycling in Sheffield Meet Tony, a homeowner in Sheffield with a Daikin Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) and Gas Boiler hybrid system. Tony was experiencing "short cycling" issues with his heat pump—a frustrating problem that affects efficiency and comfort. Our team was called in to help. This success story showcases the full strength of our service delivery team. Restoring Efficiency to a Daikin Hybrid System Client: Homeowner System: Daikin Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) & Gas Boiler Hybrid Location: Sheffield, UK Date: 06/11/25 The Challenge Following Robert Heath Heating’s appointment to manage Daikin UK’s service and repair operations, we were contacted by Tony, a homeowner in Sheffield. Tony had invested in a Daikin hybrid system to improve his home’s energy efficiency, but he was experiencing a persistent technical issue: Short Cycling. Short cycling causes the heat pump to turn on and off rapidly, preventing the system from reaching optimal efficiency and causing unnecessary wear on components. Additionally, Tony had a longstanding, unresolved issue with his underfloor heating, which had left parts of his home uncomfortable for some time. The Solution At Robert Heath Heating, we deploy a coordinated team approach to resolve issues. 1. Rapid Response & Coordination: Our Service Delivery Administrator, Jenna, immediately took ownership of the case, coordinating the logistics to ensure an engineer attended the property promptly. Her management ensured the customer felt prioritised and informed throughout the process. 2. Specialist Diagnosis: Mark, our Net Zero Engineer, attended the property to investigate the short cycling. Using specialist diagnostic tools, Mark identified the root cause of the hydraulic imbalance, causing the pump to cycle incorrectly. Accurate diagnosis is critical in renewable systems to prevent repeat call-outs. 3. Rectification & Added Value: Mathew, Commercial Field Ops Engineer, attended to carry out the necessary repairs. However, Mathew’s service went beyond the initial work order. Recognising the customer's frustration with his separate underfloor heating issue, Mathew stayed on-site to troubleshoot and resolve that problem as well. The Result The Daikin hybrid system was restored to full health, eliminating the short cycling and ensuring the unit runs at maximum efficiency. Furthermore, the underfloor heating is now functioning correctly for the first time in months. Tony, the homeowner, expressed his satisfaction not just with the repair, but with the dedication of the team: "The engineer didn't just fix the main problem; he made sure the whole system was right before he left. I'm very happy with my investment." The Robert Heath Difference This case highlights why Robert Heath Heating is a trusted partner for both Social Housing providers and private homeowners. We don’t just swap parts; we diagnose complex faults and ensure the entire heating ecosystem is performing as designed. This is Service Beyond The Install. - Beyond the Boiler: Meet Abbie Jones (Engineer)
Go beyond the boiler with Abbie Jones, Area Field Supervisor at Robert Heath. Watch her video to see how she brings expert engineering and care to every home. Beyond the Boiler: Meet Abbie Jones From diagnosing technical faults to lending a sympathetic ear, discover how Area Field Supervisor Abbie Jones brings both expert engineering and heartfelt care to every home she visits. For Abbie Jones, a career in engineering was always in the cards. Ever since her primary school days, she’s been driven by a natural desire to fix things and the deep satisfaction of taking something broken and making it work again. Over her three and a half years at Robert Heath (a member of the DAIKIN group), Abbie has translated that lifelong passion into rapid professional growth, working her way up from Engineer to Lead Engineer, and now to Area Field Supervisor. But as her story proves, her role requires much more than just technical know-how. As Abbie’s mum likes to say, if she weren’t an engineer, she’d be a counsellor. Walking into different homes every day means walking into vastly different human situations. Whether she is assisting an elderly resident with health concerns, keeping an eye out for damp and mould to ensure tenant safety under Awaab's Law, or simply offering a calm, helping hand to explain how a heating system works, Abbie provides a vital community lifeline. Rigorous gas safety and efficiency checks are just one part of a day that is equally defined by empathy and human connection. Behind Abbie’s daily dedication is a strong, supportive network at Robert Heath, a culture she beautifully describes as being like the "branches of a tree." With continuous training courses and a close-knit team that communicates every single day, there is always a senior colleague ready to offer advice or a helping hand. Watch the video above to see Abbie in action and learn why she sums up her time at Robert Heath in three powerful words: teamwork, growth, and opportunities. Interested in learning more?
